Legal documents and a laptop on a desk in a calm modern office

Terms that keep the platform fair.

By using Canal Street Ladder, you agree to play by a few simple rules that keep our community safe and fair for everyone. That’s the short version. The full version below explains your rights, your responsibilities, and the limits of our service.

Last revised: July 23, 2026

Quick reference before you continue

These Terms of Service cover account creation, acceptable use, content ownership, and liability limits for our job search tools, resume builder, and application tracker. Why start with the fine print? Because clear rules save everyone time later.

Eligibility

You must be at least 16 and able to form a binding contract.

Content

Your resume data stays yours, with a service licence for delivery.

Law

Michigan law applies, with dispute resolution in Kent County.

If you don’t agree with these terms, please stop using the site.

When you use the platform, you accept the agreement.

Accessing or using Canal Street Ladder means you accept these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy as part of the same user agreement. Simple enough, right? If you do not agree, do not create an account or continue using the site.

To use the platform, you must be at least 16 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding contract. We may update these website terms from time to time, and we’ll let you know by email or a site notice when changes are material. Continued use after that notice means you accept the updated rules.

Keep your account accurate and secure.

1. Provide accurate registration details

Use your real information and keep it current. If your profile changes, update it promptly. How else can employers and our tools work properly?

2. Protect your password

You’re responsible for keeping your login details confidential. Tell us immediately if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.

3. One account per person

Do not share accounts, impersonate another person, or create duplicate profiles. That’s not fair to other job seekers, and it disrupts the platform.

4. We may suspend misuse

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these website terms or show signs of fraud, abuse, or manipulation. No surprises there.

Use the tools for honest job searching.

Our platform rules are straightforward. Use the site to search jobs, build a resume, and track applications honestly. Do not turn it into a spam engine, data scraper, or malware drop zone. Why risk your account for that?

  • Do not post false or misleading information. That includes fake qualifications, fabricated employers, or invented application history.
  • Do not scrape listings or overload the site. Automated harvesting, bulk requests, and similar behaviour are not allowed.
  • Do not upload harmful code. Malware, phishing links, or anything that damages systems or users is prohibited.
  • Do not misuse application tools. Mass-applying with fake resumes or manipulating the tracker defeats the purpose of the service.
  • Respect other people’s rights. Resumes, profiles, and posts must not include hate speech, harassment, illegal content, or infringe intellectual property.

We may remove violating content without notice. That keeps the platform reliable for everyone, especially candidates who need a clean, trustworthy experience.

You keep your content. We keep the platform.

Platform intellectual property

All features, branding, and code on Canal Street Ladder belong to us and are protected by copyright and trademark laws. The design, structure, and underlying systems are not part of the public job search terms.

Your resumes and profiles

You retain ownership of your personal content, including resumes and profile details. By using the service, you grant us a limited licence to display that material where needed to deliver applications and related features.

Job postings

Employer listings remain the employer’s responsibility. We do not guarantee their accuracy, completeness, or ongoing availability. That’s the nature of a live marketplace.

Feedback and suggestions

When you send us feedback, ideas, or suggestions, you agree that we may use them to improve the platform. Good ideas help everyone move faster.

We provide the service as is.

The platform is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee job placement, interview outcomes, or application success.

We are not responsible for disputes, messages, interviews, offers, rejections, or other interactions between job seekers and employers. Those conversations are between the people involved, not us.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, our liability is limited for damages arising from use of the platform, and you agree to indemnify us for claims that come from your misuse or breach of these terms. Harsh? Maybe. Standard? Absolutely.

Michigan law applies here.

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA. Any dispute will be resolved through binding arbitration in Kent County, Michigan, unless a law says otherwise. Class action and jury trial waivers apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.
